The MOSS BOSS
This roof has to be the mossiest roof we have ever cleaned.
So mossy that we could roll it up like carpet!
It always comes out looking very nice though
It was fortunate on this roof that even though there was heavy moss growth the roof was still in very good condition. The main factor was that there was a massive bed of pine needles laying on the roof. The moss grew not on the roof itself but on top of the pine needles which was a protection and also made it possible to just roll the mat up as shown above. The homeowner also didn't let it sit for two long either. The pine needles had not rotted yet so it could not have been an extremely long period of time. There where trees completely surrounding and overreaching the roof which is what provided not just the pine needles but also the rapid rate of moss growth. A regular air blowing of the needles along with annual moss treatment (possibly biannual treatment in this case) will prevent future problems. Sure some might recommend zinc strips as a permanent solution but our reasons for not recommending that can be found here.
