Do Tile Roofs Need to be Pressure Washed for any Reason Other than Maintaining a Clean Look?

Tile roofs do not require the same kind of urgent care that a composition or shake roof needs. Moss and algae are not going to eat through or rot away a tile roof very quickly (though it does happen) but there are still some serious problems that can result from failing to maintain a clean roof. Build up of moss growth and debris in the slots between the tiles can hinder proper water run off allowing it to spill over the side underneath the tiles. Also when moss and debris build up on your roof it can dam up water allowing it to backtrack or go sideways under the tiles. Tiles hang on long strips of wood running horizontally under the visible roof, so when water does get underneath it will follow the boards sideways and this makes it very difficult to identify the source of the leak. The valley* sections of your roof are especially vulnerable to this problem and should be serviced regularly even if there is no moss growth.
